Why turn a track into an MP4?
Most platforms outside SoundCloud won't accept a bare audio file. YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook all want video, so the standard trick is a still image with your track underneath. That's exactly what this makes: an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which every platform and player accepts.
- YouTube uploads. 16:9 with your cover centred on a dark background.
- Instagram and TikTok posts. Square, which crops predictably in feeds.
- Sending a rough mix to someone who can't open a WAV but can always play a video.
How to do it
- Get the audio. Your own bounce, or a SoundCloud track where the artist has enabled the download button.
- Add artwork. Optional. A square image of 1400 x 1400 or larger looks best, and our cover art downloader can pull an existing cover if it's yours to use.
- Pick a shape and create the MP4. Preview it in the player, then download.
Nothing is uploaded at any point. The encode happens on your own machine, which is why a long mix is slower on a phone than on a laptop.
A note on other people's music
Uploading someone else's track to YouTube will usually be caught by Content ID, and reposting music you don't have rights to can cost the artist plays and income. Stick to your own material, or get permission. If a track has a download button on SoundCloud, that means the artist is sharing their original file, not that they've licensed you to republish it.
