"Tagging someone" on SoundCloud is different from adding keyword tags to a track. Here it means crediting or mentioning another person, whether that is a collaborator, a featured artist, or a producer. This guide covers the ways to do it.
If you meant keyword tags for discovery instead, see how to add tags on SoundCloud.
Tag collaborators with track credits
The cleanest way to tag someone on a track is through credits and collaboration settings when you upload or edit:
- Open your track and go to Edit.
- Look for the Permissions or Metadata section, depending on your account features.
- Add featured artists, producers, or collaborators where the fields allow.
- Save changes.
Crediting collaborators properly helps their audience find the track and keeps your metadata accurate.
Mention someone with an @ mention
In comments and some text fields, you can mention another user with the @ symbol followed by their username. Start typing @ and the username, then select the correct profile from the suggestions so it links to their page. This is the standard way to tag a person in a comment or a reply.
Link to someone in your description
Your track and profile descriptions accept links. To tag someone in a description, paste the full URL to their SoundCloud profile or track. This creates a clear, clickable credit that also helps listeners discover the people you work with.
Tagging etiquette
- Only tag people who are genuinely part of the track or the conversation.
- Do not mass-tag popular artists hoping for attention, because it reads as spam.
- When you feature someone, tag and credit them so their followers can find the collaboration.
